1. Personal safety. No one may engage in activities that present a real or potential danger to themselves or anyone else’s personal safety.
a. No throwing objects that could cause physical harm towards or near other people.
b. No climbing on, sliding down or leaning over the banister.
c. No leaning out of windows.
d. No playing on stairs.
e. No students to enter the pond area without staff supervision
f. No students to enter the small woodland area without staff supervision.
2. Objects in doors/halls. No objects to be left on the floor in corridors or hallways, especially skateboards.
3. Climbing on sofas. No leaning or jumping on the back of sofas.
4. Doors. No playing with or misusing doors including blocking or holding shut.
5. Running on the stairs. No running on the stairs or upstairs.
6. Escape routes. No one to play or use the fire escape stairs except in the case of an emergency or fire drill.
7. Medication. Community Meeting Members may not carry medication on their person or store it in their personal belongings at EKS, all medication must be securely stored in the office. Students that need to take medication at EKS must have a Medication Request form and Student Health Plan completed by a Parent or Guardian.
8. Sun protection. Community Meeting Members should take care not to burn in the sun. Protection from the sun includes: going into the shade and limiting time spent in the sun, applying sun cream, wearing clothing that covers the skin, wearing hats and sunglasses. As part of staff’s duty of care, staff have the authority to ask students to take additional precautions, come inside or not go on a trip if they are concerned about a student’s safety in the sun.
