1. Staff’s duty of care. In any situation that a member of the Staff deems to present a potential emergency situation for the Community, the Community Meeting authorises that member, if possible in conjunction with any one or more Staff members available at the time, to take such emergency action as they deem necessary, and such action will be deemed to have the force of law under the community’s rules, for the purposes of the Community's judicial procedures. The Community Meeting must be informed of such action at its next meeting. See also Health and Safety Policy.
2. Staff in residence. During all hours EKS is officially open, at least two staff members must be on the premises (except in whole Community field trips).
3. Student Learning Records. All students have a personal learning journal held on the EKS admin website.
1. Staff may record learning activities that they observe in students' journals.
2. Students have access to their own learning journal and may use it to record their own learning activities.
3. Students will select a key staff member with the Resource Committee and meet with that staff member at least twice a term for a check-in meeting.
4. A record of check-in meetings will be made in the student’s journal.
4. Staff. All staff must fulfil their role as per the Staff Handbook and Contract.
